Device Europe in the Netherlands is now WEEELABEX certified
Device Europe in the Netherlands has received WEEELABEX certification for our facility in Haarlem. The Certification of Conformity No. 25-0276 was issued by the WEEELABEX Organisation on 28 August 2026 and is valid until 27 August 2028.
WEEELABEX certification means that the site's operations have been independently verified against European requirements for environmental protection, health and safety, and responsible processing of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and its materials.
What is WEEELABEX?
WEEELABEX is a European standard for organisations that collect, sort, store, transport, prepare for re-use and treat WEEE. It was developed by the WEEE Forum, an international association of producer responsibility organisations, in a project co-financed by the EU LIFE programme.
Since 2013, the standard has been managed by the WEEELABEX Organisation, based in Prague. It qualifies auditors, certifies operators and keeps a public list of certified sites. Its certification schemes implement the CENELEC EN 50625 series of standards for WEEE treatment and EN 50614 for preparing WEEE for re-use.
What our certificate covers
The certificate was issued under the WEEELABEX certification scheme for operators, EURo B2501. It covers three WEEE streams at our Haarlem site:
| WEEE stream | Operator type | Details and exclusions |
|---|---|---|
| Large appliances | Manual treatment; preparation for re-use | IT and telecommunications equipment (WEEE category 4). Excludes large household appliances. |
| Mixed equipment | Manual treatment; preparation for re-use | IT and telecommunications equipment (WEEE category 6). Excludes small household appliances (WEEE category 5). |
| Flat panel display equipment | Preparation for re-use | Preparation for re-use of IT monitors. Excludes televisions. |
The certificate confirms conformity with EN 50625-1:2014 and CLC/TS 50625-3-1:2015 (general treatment requirements and de-pollution) and the WEEELABEX normative document on treatment for all certified streams, and with EN 50614:2020 for preparing for re-use.
What this means for our clients
When IT equipment reaches the end of its life, you need to know it is handled safely and legally. WEEELABEX gives you independent evidence of that, checked by a qualified auditor rather than self-declared.
For you, this means:
- Verified treatment – de-pollution, sorting and recovery of materials follow recognised European requirements.
- Re-use first – equipment that can be used again is prepared for re-use under the same standard, before anything is recycled.
- Easier supplier checks – the certificate and its scope are public, so your procurement, compliance and ESG teams can check them directly in the WEEELABEX register.
- One consistent system – WEEELABEX sits alongside the certifications we already hold: R2v3, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO/IEC 27001, and our B Corp certification.
