Device Europe is now a Certified B Corporation

Device Europe is now a Certified B Corporation. The certification decision was made on 17 July 2026, following an independent audit by To-Cert Pte Ltd, an assurance provider working under B Lab's certification requirements.

For us, this is not a finish line. It is an external check of how we already work – and a commitment to keep improving, with regular audits ahead.

What B Corp certification means

B Corp certification is granted to companies that meet the standards set by B Lab, a non-profit organisation. The standards look at how a company is governed and how it affects its workers, customers, communities and the environment – not only at its financial results.

In 2025, B Lab published new standards. The earlier model, where a company needed at least 80 points in the B Impact Assessment, was replaced by B Lab Standards V2. Instead of collecting points, every company must now meet specific requirements across seven "Impact Topics", tailored to its size and sector. Device Europe was certified under these new standards.

Foundation Requirements

Before the "Impact Topics" are assessed, a company must meet the Foundation Requirements:

  • It is an incorporated business that has operated for at least 12 months.
  • It is not materially involved in industries that undermine B Lab's Theory of Change.
  • It adopts stakeholder governance – it is legally accountable to all its stakeholders, not only its shareholders.
  • It completes a risk assessment, which can add further requirements.

The seven Impact Topics

Impact Topic What B Lab requires
Purpose & Stakeholder Governance A defined purpose built into decision-making, with governance that monitors social and environmental performance.
Fair Work Good-quality jobs, a positive workplace culture, fair wage practices and worker feedback in decisions.
Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) Concrete JEDI actions chosen from a set of options; the number depends on company size.
Human Rights Identifying, preventing and mitigating negative human rights impacts in operations and the value chain, in line with the UN Guiding Principles.
Climate Action A climate action plan supporting the 1.5°C goal; larger companies also measure GHG emissions and set validated science-based targets.
Environmental Stewardship & Circularity Assessing environmental impacts and acting to reduce them in operations and the value chain, including contributing to the circular economy.
Government Affairs & Collective Action Taking part in collective efforts for systemic change, such as advocating for policies with positive social and environmental outcomes.

Not a one-off check

Under the new standards, a certified company must keep meeting all applicable requirements for as long as it holds the certification. Our certificate runs for five years, with audits in year 0, year 3 and year 5.

What it means for our customers and partners

Choosing a B Corp means working with a company committed to delivering business value and to creating a positive impact. In practice, for you this means:

  • Independent verification – our practices were assessed against published requirements and audited by an independent assurance provider, not self-declared. Our public profile in the B Corp directory shows the current status of our certification.
  • Accountability to all stakeholders – stakeholder governance means decisions take into account employees, customers, communities and the environment, not only shareholders.
  • Ongoing, not one-off – we must keep meeting the requirements throughout the five-year cycle, with further audits in year 3 and year 5.
  • Support for your own sustainability work – information from a certified supplier can feed into your supplier assessments and due diligence. B Corp complements, but does not replace, reporting frameworks such as CSRD.
  • One consistent system – B Corp sits alongside the standards we already work with: R2v3 and ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 27001.
  • A long-term approach – to relationships and to decision-making.

Circularity at the core of what we do

Environmental Stewardship & Circularity is one of the seven Impact Topics. It expects B Corps to contribute to the circular economy in their operations and value chain.

This is close to our daily work. We collect IT equipment, securely erase data, refurbish devices and return them to use – so that hardware stays in use for longer. With Device Europe, circular IT is backed by a broader commitment to people, planet and responsible growth.

A word from our CEO

"When we started this journey, I'll be honest – I underestimated how demanding it would be. B Corp certification isn't a badge you buy; it's a rigorous assessment of how your company actually operates: how you treat your people, how you measure your environmental impact, how you govern, how transparent you are.

There were moments when it would have been easier to stop. Instead, our team turned the process into an opportunity – rethinking policies, listening more closely to employees, measuring what we'd never measured before. This certification doesn't belong to me. It belongs to every person at Device Europe who believed that how we do business matters as much as the results we deliver.

To fellow leaders considering this path: it's hard, and it's worth it. This is not the finish line – it's a commitment we intend to keep raising the bar on."

– Maciej Jakimiec, CEO at Device Europe
